Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Pokopia.Town handles information when you visit or use our public website. It applies together with our Terms of Service and Disclaimer. We operate a read-mostly reference site; we do not sell your personal information.
Who we are
Pokopia.Town is operated as an independent fan project. The "data controller" for personal data processed through this Site is the person or team identified on our About page and reachable via Contact.
Information we may collect
Technical and usage data. Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically logs requests. That can include your IP address, approximate region derived from IP, browser type, referring URL, timestamps, and requested paths (for example visits to Pokémon or item pages). These logs help us operate, secure, and debug the service.
Cookies and similar technologies. We use strictly necessary cookies required for the site to function (for example session or security cookies from the host). We also use Google Analytics (provided by Google) to understand aggregate traffic, navigation, and feature usage. Google may set cookies or use similar storage and process data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Depending on your region, analytics may rely on consent or legitimate interests; we may update this policy if we change tools or add a consent mechanism.
Device preferences. The site may save small settings on your device (for example display or layout choices) so the pages load the way you left them. That information stays on your device unless you clear site data in your browser.
What we do not intentionally collect. We do not require you to create an account to browse Pokopia.Town. We do not ask for your real name, postal address, or game account passwords on this Site.
Why we use data
- To deliver the pages and features you use.
- To protect against abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- To measure aggregate traffic and improve performance and content (for example which guides are most used), including through Google Analytics.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
If data protection law applies to you, we rely on: (1) legitimate interests in running and securing a public reference site; (2) contract where we provide a service you request; and (3) legal obligation where required. Where consent is required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will obtain it before use.
Sharing and recipients
We use infrastructure and tooling providers (for example hosting, DNS, and CDN) to serve the Site. Those providers process data on our behalf under contracts and may be located outside your country. We do not sell personal data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Retention
Server logs are kept for a limited period typical for security and troubleshooting (often days to months, depending on the host), then deleted or aggregated. Backup copies may persist longer in encrypted backups. If you contact us, we retain messages only as long as needed to respond and meet legal requirements.
Security
We use HTTPS and follow reasonable practices for a small static site. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because most visitors are anonymous, we may need enough detail to verify that a request relates to you. Submit requests via Contact with "Privacy request" in the subject.
Children
The Site is a general audience reference. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required in your region). If you believe we have collected personal data from a child, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
International transfers
If you access the Site from outside the country where servers are located, your data may be processed in that country or other regions where our providers operate. We use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required by law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date below will change, and for material updates we may post a short notice on the home page when practical.
