Lumber — ground pickups, Small Logs, and Chop specialties

Last updated 2026-05-29

Lumber is scarcer than stone but required for the Pokémon Center rebuild, storage, and much furniture. The fastest loop is Small Logs plus a Chop specialty partner—not endless ground fragments.

Ground pickups (slow method)

Tiny wood fragments and stacked lumber piles appear in the Withered Wastelands—dry plains right of the entrance, high ground left, and caves beyond elevated terrain. Press pickup for one Lumber per fragment. Useful early, but too slow for large projects.

Small Logs → Chop (recommended)

Cut trees and worn lumber with the Cut move, check beach sparkles, or receive gifts to gather Small Logs. Give up to 10 Small Logs at once to a Chop specialty Pokémon via “Look at this”—conversion is 10 Small Logs → 50 Lumber.

You can collect partial output if you talk to the Pokémon while it is still working; waiting lets it deliver the full batch when finished.

Chop Pokémon in the first area

Scyther, Pinsir, and Heracross (Withered Wastelands) learn Chop. Attract them with a Tree-Shaded Tall Grass habitat: place four Tall Grass patches around any Large Tree in the wasteland.

Lumber is used for (examples)

  • Storage Box
  • Pokémon Center rebuild (with Rock, Leaf, Vine Rope)
  • Many furniture recipes that list Lumber

Efficiency tips

Set up Tree-Shaded Tall Grass early, bring 10 Small Logs per visit, learn Cut for worn lumber piles, and check Chop partners before long crafting sessions.
